National Union of Pensioners, Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) has applauded the Scheme as the best thing to have happened to the Nigeria’s Pension administration.
The body stated this during a courtesy visit to the CEO of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp) Mr. Oguche Agudah.
The pensioners who were represented by their executive from various states of the Federation noted that the CPS had been framed to protect the interest of pensioners if it is implemented properly.
The Scheme according to the NUPCPS has not only eliminated fraud, it has equally ensured certainty in the payments of pensions, which has enabled contributors to be able to plan their life.
The body however advocated for an improvement in the Scheme, calling on the PenOp CEO to engage with other stakeholders to ensure that grey areas in the Scheme are addressed.
In his response, the CEO of PenOp, Oguche Agudah, said the pensioners were the reason the industry existed saying all workers in the pension space have the pensioners to thank for their jobs.
He commended the pensioners for serving their country through their organizations in their youth adding that the pension industry and the country still needs to tap from the wealth of experience they had gathered over the years.
Ogwuche assured the pensioners the industry’s commitment to their welfare and will continue to listen and engage with them from time to time.
